MASTER STORY-TELLING: WORLD CLASS FEATURE ANIMATION DEVELOPMENT

Hosted by DreamWorks Animation SKG

You have a story you know will make an amazing animated feature…

Now what?

How do top studio producers develop stories specifically for feature animation? How does the animation process resemble or differ from the live action process? At what point in development should you bring on story artists, production designers, and editors to help guide the story-telling process? If you’ve ever wondered how the professionals do it, you won’t want to miss our first master story-telling evening where you’ll learn first-hand from our talented and generous friends at DreamWorks Animation SKG.

Join us on Thursday, March 29th for a special evening focusing on the DreamWorks approach and philosophy of story telling and the animation process from the screenwriters' perspective.

Moderating the panel of authors and screenwriters are PGA Member and recent DreamWorks Animation SKG Head of Development, ALEX SCHWARTZ, producer of the upcoming feature, MR. PEABODY AND SHERMAN and PGA Member KRISTINE BELSON, Executive Producer of DreamWorks Animation’s HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON and producer of the upcoming feature THE CROODS.

Special panelists include:
TOM WHEELER is a screenwriter, producer and novelist and, most recently, the writer of PUSS IN BOOTS for DreamWorks Animation. Wheeler is also currently co-writing the animated feature TROLLHUNTERS with Guillermo Del Toro and the supernatural comedy B.O.O., both for DreamWorks Animation. In television, he has developed and produced pilots for The CW, ABC, NBC and FOX and was the creator and executive producer of the 2004 ABC maxi-series EMPIRE and, most recently, was the creator and executive producer of the NBC superhero series THE CAPE.

MICHAEL MCCULLERS began his career as a writer at NBC’s SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE. McCullers made his screenwriting debut with the hit comedy AUSTIN POWERS; THE SPY WHO SHAGGED ME starring Mike Myers and Elizabeth Hurley, and collaborated with Myers on its smash sequel, AUSTIN POWERS IN GOLDMEMBER, which also starred Beyoncé Knowles, and Michael Caine. McCullers went on to write and direct BABY MAMA, starring Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and Steve Martin. Other feature film work for McCullers includes the screenplay for UNDERCOVER BROTHER with Eddie Griffin and Dave Chappelle, various re-writes, and a pretty cool unproduced draft of MAGNUM PI. McCullers is currently writing an original screenplay for DreamWorks Animation.
