A comprehensive look at what Investigation Discovery has to consider when commissioning a series. We will take the audience through the process from the initial pitch through green light.

Panelists
JANE LATMAN
Senior Vice President, Program Development, Investigation Discovery, Discovery Communications, Inc.

Latman has worked in non-fiction television for 20 years and has been at Discovery Communications since 2003, when she joined the programming department for what was then the Discovery Times Channel. After a stint in development for the Military Channel, Latman was tapped to help rebrand Discovery Times to Investigation Discovery, giving her the challenging privilege of designing content for the new network that would ultimately become a hit, with series that continue to perform today – for example: "Scorned," "Fatal Encounters," "I (Almost) Got Away With It," and "I Married A Mobster." Prior to joining Discovery, Latman was a freelance producer, director, and writer for projects that included the award-winning series "Nurses" for Discovery Health Channel and "Understanding Obesity" for The Learning Channel’s acclaimed "Understanding…" series. She also did development work for a variety of ventures including PBS’s miniseries "Stealing Time: The New Science of Aging." Before launching her television career, Latman was a freelance theater director in Washington, D.C., specializing in the development of new plays.

ELIZA BOOTH
VP Branded Entertainment, Investigation Discovery, Military Channel, Destination America, Discovery Communications, Inc.
Eliza Booth is Vice President, Branded Entertainment for Discovery's MIDAS network group: Investigation Discovery, Military Channel and Destination America. Her team is responsible for ideation and execution of all sponsorship and integration opportunities for all three networks, as well as any custom-produced branded entertainment specials or series. Current key clients include SC Johnson, Proctor & Gamble, Toyota, Kingsford, the US Army, Geico and Diet Mountain Dew. Prior to the joining the MIDAS networks in June of 2010, Eliza was the Director of Integrated Content at Travel Channel. Her 15+ years in TV have been focused in marketing strategy and on air promotion. She's won several Promax/BDA Gold, Silver and Bronze awards and CTAM Mark awards as well as an Emmy nomination for On-Air Promotions for her work.

KEVIN KAUFMAN
Kaufman Films
Kevin Kaufman is an award-winning director/producer of iconic television series and TV commercials. Kaufman created and executive produced the first season of Bravo’s "The Real Housewives of Orange County,” which became the most successful franchise in cable history. Kevin also created, produced, and directed "The 100 Scariest Movie Moments,” Bravo’s top rated miniseries as well as the feature doc "The Palladium: Where Mambo Was King,” which won the distinguished Imagen Award for Best Television Documentary. Recently, he originated and directed the 22 episode series "I Married A Mobster” for Investigation Discovery, as well as "Family Pickle,” winner of the Gold Award for "Best Reality Show” at both the 2013 Cablefax Awards and 2013 New York Festivals in Las Vegas. Other television series Kevin directed and produced include the 11-hour series "Watching the Detectives” and "DEA Files” for A&E networks, plus "The Greatest Fashion Icons in Film” for TLC.

Beth is the principal of Remarkable Content Group, a boutique content sales agency. Beth has an accomplished career in global entertainment production, distribution and strategic partnerships. Credits include placement of programs for NBC, ABC, CBS, ESPN, Disney, Sesame Workshop, ID, EPIX, STYLE, OWN among others. She was instrumental in the creation of Disney i.d.e.a.s. and NHK’s HD CGI studio. Beth has also held positions in strategic alliances/M&A and has consulted to top media clients. Remarkable Content Group works with and represents small to mid-sized non-fiction production companies and content creators for successful placement on cable and digital outlets.
