Iceland Continues To Lure Production With Incentives

Iceland’s stunning beauty and majestic landscapes have served as the backdrop of a surprising number of films, ranging from Clint Eastwood’s "Letters from Iwo Jima,” where the black beaches of Sandvik doubled for similarly hued sands on the tropical island, to Darren Aronofsky’s "Noah,” where the Nordic country portrayed Biblical lands with an otherworldly feel.

To be sure, producers are lured by incentives, which are about to increase. In 2017 Iceland will raise its rebate to 25% from 20%. Television as well as film projects are eligible. A cultural test is required and the program has no annual cap.
