Amazon Exec Discusses Changes to Pilot Strategy

Amazon is mixing up its user driven pilot process. Amazon, who traditionally released a series of pilots allowing viewers to vote on which series would be picked up, bypassed its own process for the first time in order to pick up a full season of the Woody Allen comedy Crisis in Six Scenes which will debut September 30th.

Amazon Studio Chief Roy Price says the voting is helpful, but it leaves viewers wondering which pilots will be picked up. For now the company will proceed down both pathways, in the words of Price, "I like to keep my options open”.

Price stated Amazon’s spending in the second half of 2015 was double the previous year, but did not give any more details on the numbers.

Amazons next round of pilots will be released on August 19th.
