A Victory for Fair Credits
Share |

Dear fellow producing team members,

By now you very likely have heard the extraordinary news that the United States Department of Justice has fully endorsed the PGA’s Producers Mark.  The Department has gone on record as stating that the Mark does not pose an anti-trust liability—therefore negating the studios’ frequently expressed concerns.  Furthermore, the DOJ has stated its expectation that the Mark would provide clarity to producing credits, thus benefiting the industry and the public.

This is a watershed development; without exaggeration, it is one of the historic moments for our profession.  This is something the studios wanted but didn’t expect we’d secure—a major assist from Washington.

This event represents a victory, but we have not yet achieved our ultimate goal.  It is up to all of us to seize this moment and build on this momentum.  We look forward to discussing this clear directive from the DOJ with the studios, and reporting the results of those conversations to you.  But for now, take a moment this weekend to celebrate this wonderful news and our new ally in the fight for fair credit.

In solidarity,

Hawk, Mark and Vance
