Dear PGA Member,

The AP Council is proud to announce the new MEMBER RESOURCE LIBRARY, which offers examples from members of contracts, agreements, releases and general production paperwork for working producers in film, television and new media.

There will be ongoing additions to the Library. If you have documents that you would like to contribute, we encourage you to upload them directly onto the Library page. However, only locked PDFs may be uploaded to the Library (editable word documents are automatically subject to removal by the PGA). Additionally, please be sure to remove any personal, business and/or financial information so that the document is generic before posting. *Please note: Your review of and postings to the Member Resource Library are subject to the PGA Disclaimer below.

Panasonic Cinema’s VariCam lineup of 4K digital cinema cameras consists of the VariCam 35, VariCam LT, and the VariCam Pure. All three cameras contain a Super 35mm sensor, can capture true 4K images, boasts an impressive 14+ stops of dynamic range, and contain Dual Native 800/5,000 ISOs that will enable a cinematographer to capture low light scenes with less light. In 2017, VariCam has seen wider implementation on high-end productions for cinema, broadcast, and streaming platforms.

On November 3rd, 2017, director Richard Linklater (Everybody Wants Some!!, Boyhood) releases Last Flag Flying, which stars Bryan Cranston, Laurence Fishburne, and Steve Carell, and was shot by cinematographer Shane Kelly with VariCam 35 cameras. Another anticipated feature is Jon M. Chu’s Crazy Rich Asians, which is based on the book by Kevin Kwan and shot with the new VariCam Pure in 4K RAW by cinematographer Vanja Cernjul (Marco Polo, Nurse Jackie).

“I was really impressed at how well the color looked, especially the skin tones,” says director/DP Travis Andrews, who shot indie feature Silverdome with the VariCam LT. “Sometimes digital cameras can look weird with varying skin tones but the VariCam was true from what I was seeing with my eye. If not, a little better looking.”

Currently streaming on Netflix are several VariCam-shot series, including Orange Is the New Black, Ozark, The OA, 13 Reasons Why, and more. HBO’s The Deuce, MTV’s Siesta Key and Discovery Network’s Manhunt: Unabomber are examples of cable TV series that are getting acclaim for their unique visuals. “The sensitivity in the VariCam is quite remarkable,” reveals 13 Reasons Why cinematographer Andrij Parekh. “It was a very clean 5,000 ISO, unlike what you would get out of an [ARRI] Alexa at 5,000.”

This fall, Panasonic Cinema will release its newest digital cinema camera targeted at indie filmmakers – the 5.7K EVA1 cinema camera. The compact 2.65-lbs camera is tailor-made for handheld shooting, but is also well suited for documentaries, events, commercials, and music videos.
