Producers Code Of Credits

Below, you will find links to help you navigate the PGA’s new Producers Code of Credits (PCOC).

The product of years of research into producing credits and their use within the entertainment industry, the Producers Code of Credits is a set of job descriptions, guidelines and rules for resolving credit disputes.  The content of the PCOC has been drafted to reflect the current realities and responsibilities of the profession.  Adoption of and adherence to this process will ensure that a project's given producing credits are accurate and precise.

The PCOC consists of four sections. The first three address respectively the three primary producing titles in theatrical motion pictures (Produced by), television series (Executive Producer) and long-form television (Executive Producer). Collectively, these three titles comprise the Producers Guild of America’s Sanctioned Credits. For each of these titles, a detailed job description and list of producing functions is provided; a credited producer must perform a majority of the producing functions listed within the relevant section of the PCOC. While the Producers Guild does not arbitrate subsidiary producing titles, each section also includes a series of credit guidelines to cover the entire producing team.

The fourth section comprises the PGA’s rules governing the arbitration of credit disputes. This process is based upon the successful arbitration process utilized in determining eligibility for the Producers Guild Awards. Producers are encouraged to read the rules thoroughly.
