Producers Guild Awards FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

RE: PRODUCERS GUILD AWARDS SUBMISSIONS

1.       How do I ensure that my production is included on the ballot?

 

Submit your Notice of Credits.  You can also email Emily Kimmel at

emily@producersguild.org 

 

Please give her the name of your production and verify that it aired during the

eligibility period.

 

Our eligibility periods:

 

a.       Drama/Comedy Series: Must have aired at least six original episodes, including the season opener, between June 1, 2007 and May 31, 2008;

 

b.      Non-Fiction/Live Entertainment and Competition Television:  Must have aired at least three original episodes, including the season opener, between June 1, 2007 and May 31, 2008.  This category also includes non-fiction specials.  These specials must have originally aired during the eligibility period;

 

c.       Long-Form Television:  Must have originally aired between January 1, 2008 and December 31, 2008;

 

d.      Theatrical Motion Pictures (including Documentary and Animated Theatrical Motion Pictures):  Must meet AMPAS’ eligibility requirements.

 

 

 

 

2.        How do I submit a television series or non-fiction special to be considered for a Producers Guild Award?

 

a.       Each show requires a Notice of Credits.  The Notice of Credits is usually completed by the showrunner, or someone working directly under his or her supervision.  The Guild only requires one copy of this form, and it must be submitted by June 13, 2008.

When you submit the Notice of Credits, please tell your producers that they need to complete the eligibility form.  This will greatly expedite the completion of your show’s file.

 

 

b.      Each producer who is eligible for a Producers Guild Award must fill out an Eligibility Form and return it to the Guild by June 13, 2008.    The following Television Series producer titles are eligible:  Executive Producer, Co-Executive Producer, Supervising Producer, and Producer/Produced By.

 

                                                              i.      Drama/Comedy Series have two types of individual producer Eligibility Forms: One form is for writing producers and the other is for non-writing producers. 

 

                                                            ii.      The Non-Fiction Categories also have two types of individual producer Eligibility Forms:  One form is for Non-Fiction/Competition Producers and the other form is for Live Entertainment/Variety Producers.

 

                                                          iii.      Producers who do not wish to be considered should formally withdraw by contacting Emily Kimmel via email, fax or mail.

 

 

c.       Please submit copies of the full credits as they appeared on-screen for three episodes that originally aired during the eligibility period.

 

 

 

 

3.       How do I submit a Long-Form television program to be considered for a Producers Guild Award?

 

a.       First, submit the Notice of Credits.  The Guild only requires one copy of this form, and it must be submitted by November 21, 2008.

 

When you submit the Notice of Credits, please tell your producers that they need to complete the eligibility form.  This will greatly expedite the completion of your show’s file.

 

b.      Each producer who is eligible for a Producers Guild Award must fill out an Eligibility Form and return it to the Guild by November 21, 2008.  Producers can access this form here. Producers who do not wish to be considered should formally withdraw by contacting Emily Kimmel via email, fax or mail.

 

c.       Please submit a copy of the full credits as they appeared on-screen.

 

 

 

 

4.       How do I submit a Documentary Theatrical Motion Picture to be considered for a Producers Guild Award?

 

a.       First, submit the Notice of Credits.  The Guild only requires one copy of this form, and it must be submitted by November 7, 2008.

 

b.      Each producer who is eligible for a Producers Guild Award must fill out an Eligibility Form and return it to the Guild by November 7, 2008.  Producers who do not wish to be considered should formally withdraw by contacting Emily Kimmel via email, fax or mail.

 

                                                              i.      Only producers with the Producer/Produced By title are eligible to receive the Producers Guild Award.

 

c.       Please submit a letter verifying the Qualifying Exhibition and also documentation of the film’s advertising and exploitation during this exhibition.

 

d.      Please submit a letter verifying the film’s multi-state rollout and also documentation of the films’ advertising and exploitation during this rollout.

 

e.      Please submit a copy of the full credits as they rolled.

 

f.        Please submit twelve NTSC/DVD screeners of your film to Emily Kimmel by

October 31, 2008.  These screeners must be the final product, without trailers or other extraneous content.  They will be viewed by the Guild’s Blue Ribbon Panel, and this panel will determine the three to five films that will be nominated for the Producer of the Year Award in Documentary Theatrical Motion Pictures.  The screeners will be used for Awards purposes only.

 

 

 

 

5.       How do I submit a theatrical motion picture to be considered for a Producers Guild Award?

 

a.       First, submit the Notice of Credits.  The Guild only requires one copy of this form, and it must be submitted by November 7, 2008.

 

b.      Each producer who is eligible for a Producers Guild Award must fill out an Eligibility Form and return it to the Guild by

      November 7, 2008.  Producers who do not wish to be considered should formally withdraw by contacting Emily Kimmel via email, fax or mail.

 

                                                              i.      Only producers with the Producer/Produced By title are eligible to receive the Academy Award for Best Picture and the Producers Guild Award.

 

c.       Please submit a copy of the full credits as they rolled and also a sample of the film’s call sheets.

 

 

 

 

 

6.       How do I submit an Animated Theatrical Motion Picture to be considered for a Producers Guild Award?

 

a.       First, submit the Notice of Credits.  Please make sure that you are using the Notice of Credits that is tailored to Animated Films. The Guild only requires one copy of this form, and it must be submitted by November 7, 2008.

 

b.      Each producer who is eligible for a Producers Guild Award must fill out an Eligibility Form and return it to the Guild by November 7, 2008.  Again, please make sure that you are completing the Eligibility Form that is tailored to Animated Theatrical Motion Pictures.  Producers who do not wish to be considered should formally withdraw by contacting Emily Kimmel via email, fax or mail.

 

                                                              i.      Only producers with the Producer/Produced By title are eligible to receive the Producers Guild Award.

 

c.       Please submit a copy of the full credits as they rolled and also a sample of the film’s call sheets.
