Storytelling with Stock Media: The Power of Archival

Presented by the Education Committee

The sourcing and licensing of archival media as a powerful storytelling tool is crucial for many narrative and documentary projects. Often producers are challenged with accessing material and it can prove very difficult, time consuming and the licensing process nearly impossible due primarily to budget constraints. The event will showcase several documentary producers who will speak about their experiences and the unique solutions created for their projects. The panel, along with a representative from Getty Images, one of the largest archives in the world, will walk through the step by step process of sourcing and licensing archival media and discuss new advancements available to filmmakers.

The event is intended to give producers/filmmakers insight into the process of finding and licensing archival footage and will give those who have not worked with archival media a wonderful window into the  realities of using stock footage, music and stills in the current marketplace. Those who do have experience with archival footage and want to attend will still get valuable knowledge from the different projects showcased.
