The Multichannel Network (MCN) market has exploded in the past few years, fueled by the 2014 acquisitions of Maker Studios by Disney for $500 million; the $300 million deal for Fullscreen Network by Otter Media, and AwesomenessTV’s acquisition by DreamWorks Animation. MCNs, usually referred to as YouTube networks or sub-networks, enable original content creators to generate advertising revenue and subscription revenue through YouTube. Now, however, there is a greater market for MCNs that do not involve YouTube exclusively. 

The MCN market has enabled the emergence of stars ranging from make-up artist Michelle Phan to Swedish videogame commentator PewDiePie ($4.3 million in 2013; 14.1 million subscribers and 4.1 billion views, the highest of any MCN star in 2014), to Grace Helbig. 

As producers gain greater control over direct-to-consumer content, the MCN revolution will continue to grow and mature, enabling richer pay-outs and consumer engagement.
This session will include leading MCN producers and studio heads who will describe the challenges of building and maintaining audiences in the ever-shifting multichannel industry.

Jenn Mancini, vice president, Endemol Beyond USA
Jenn Mancini is the vice president of sales for Endemol Beyond, the digital content extension of Endemol, the largest independent television production company globally. She leads East Coast efforts for the growing network, developing and selling formats to brands, both for branded entertainment, and for vertically focused "premium content networks" such as ICON, the newly launched Michelle Phan's Lifestyle network of influencers curated, hand picked by Michelle. She was previously with Maker Studios, heading up branded entertainment sales. Prior to Maker, she worked with MCNs, including POPSUGAR, 33across, and Base79. Jenn held various roles with MySpace and CNET Networks earlier in her career.

Colin Fitzpatrick, creative projects editor, Storyful
Colin Fitzpatrick is the chief projects editor for Storyful, a News Corp.-owned venture that acts as a news agency supplying verified User-Generated Content (UGC) to news clients and manages rights for UGC video on YouTube and across the web. Storyful uses advanced technology and journalistic expertise to find amazing content that newsrooms, brands and video producers can quickly turn to their advantage. The world’s biggest media brands trust Storyful to discover, verify and acquire social media for their storytelling. Colin was previously the digital programs editor for Al Jazeera America, developing the creative strategy for new media projects pegged to broadcast events. Prior to this, he worked as an interactive producer for News Corp.’s The Daily; was senior producer for interactive programming at Thirteen/WNET, and held writer and web producer roles for both AOL and Time Out New York. Colin is a member of the PGA New Media Council East.

Ealeal Ginott, vice president, programming, 5 min media/AOL
Ealeal Ginott is the vice president of programming for 5 min media, which is owned by AOL. She is responsible for defining content programming needs and their implementation, guiding programming via scaled syndication for content deals from launch, providing editorial perspective and coordination with other departments, and merging creative efforts with strategic efforts to drive video views throughout the 5min Media syndication network. 

Marc Mulgrum, vice president, Worldnow
Marc Mulgrum is the vice president of sales for Worldnow, which delivers unified content solutions for producers and networks. Marc is a leading figure in the online video industry, having worked with YouToo; Anvato; Roo Media, and Jumpcut, and has helped deliver leading multichannel solutions for a wide range of leading publishers and brands.

Moderated by Chris Pfaff, PGA New Media Council
A former board delegate of the PGA New Media Council from 2006-2013; former PGA New Media Council vice chairman, and former PGA Board of Directors delegate, Chris has been a PGA New Media Council member since 2004. He leads a consultancy – Chris Pfaff Tech/Media LLC – that represents some of the leading service providers, audio/video technology firms, networking vendors, and media companies in the world. A veteran of the venture world, Chris helped launch more than 20 ventures from the Lucent New Ventures Group, including iBiquity Digital; Flarion; Lucent Digital Video, and GeoVideo Networks, among others. In addition, he has helped launch AT&T’s Internet strategy; the Viacom New Media division of Viacom, Inc.; Sony Electronics’ Digital Betacam format, and Sharp Electronics’ LCD product division, among others.
