PGA EAST NEWS FOR THE WEEK OF May 23rd...

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

FIRST LOOK SCREENING SERIES

The PGA East Documentary/Non-Fiction Committee presents First Look, a screening series showcasing pre-release documentaries followed by a filmmaker Q&A and short reception. The series is programmed and managed by a selection panel comprised of committee members.

First Look is focused on documentaries that are released by small distributors, self-distributed or do not yet have distribution. (Studios and larger distributors are invited to participate in the official PGA screening program). In 2017 First Look screened KIKI, THE BLOOD IS AT THE DOORSTEP, DINA, QUEST, A SUITABLE GIRL and THE FORCE.

The venue, tech and reception are provided at no cost to the filmmakers. First Look does not cover filmmaker transportation or “print” shipping costs. The producer and/or director must be available to participate in post-screening Q&A.

In 2018 the First Look series will screen monthly, March – September. Although First Look is not a member screening program, members are strongly encouraged to submit their documentaries for consideration. All documentaries should be submitted a minimum of 8 weeks prior to release date. This is a very competitive process, and the FIRST LOOK selection panel decisions are final.

If you are interested in joining the Documentary/ Non-Fiction Committee, visit the Documentary/Non-Fiction Committee page

If you are interested in submitting your documentary for consideration, please complete the
First Look Submission Form.

For questions regarding First Look or information regardingthe official PGA screening program, please contact Mitzie Rothzeid, Director, PGA East mrothzeid@producersguild.org.

PGA East Event
The Spectrum of Opportunity
Monday, June 4th at 6:30pm at The Players

Autism is a lifelong neurological disability that impacts millions of people in America. The CDC just reported a 15% increase in diagnosis since 2014, to 1 in 59 children. People on the autism spectrum think and experience the world differently, and their unique points of view are underrepresented in our media, both in front of and behind the camera.
How are we, as storytellers and media makers, accessing the talents and passions of people on the Autism Spectrum, empowering them as actors, crew members, animators, VFX? How can we as Producers learn how to tap into and work with this community?
Following up on last year's well-attended event, this year’s panel, THE SPECTRUM OF OPPORTUNITY, will present acting companies, film schools and programs which train people on the Spectrum to work behind and in front of the camera.  Come to learn what they offer and leave knowing how to access it.

RSVP & more info.

Now in its sixth year, YoFiFest returns November 2-8 2018 to celebrate moving pictures, the people who make them and the people who watch them. We're all about audiences and filmmakers connecting so in addition to lots of great movies, hands on workshops and our mini film school, we have plenty of parties, networking events, Q&As, meet and mingles, and other social opportunities to engage with your fans and fellow filmmakers.

We are looking for personal, innovative, imaginative and compelling stories that are well told. We want passionate filmmakers with a fresh point of view, traditional story tellers who dig deep to find the truth and courageous, new visionaries coming to filmmaking for the first time. We are not overly hung up on when the movies were made or if they are premiers. We just want to share good work with a thoughtful audience that wants to see your work.

YoFiFest is Your Film Festival! Its easy to get to, fun to hang out at and not to be missed!
