By John Hadity
Chair, PGA East

On behalf of the Producers Guild of America (PGA) East Executive Committee, I am pleased to announce that the committee has voted unanimously to appoint John Hoffman to serve out the remainder of Kit Golden’s Member-at-Large term, which will conclude in June 2012.  Kit and her family have temporarily relocated overseas and our by-laws require that Executive Committee members reside in the PGA East region.  We are extremely grateful to Kit for her dedication to the Guild and its membership and look forward to her return to NYC.

The vote was taken in accordance with Section A, paragraph 1 of the PGA East By-Laws and Article VII, section 3 of the PGA Constitution.

Given the increased profile of the Guild, at a pivotal time in both our industry and the broader economy, we feel that John Hoffman is an ideal choice to serve out the remaining term of the open seat.
John, a Guild member for over 4 years, is vice president, HBO Documentary Films. John built his career in television in NYC, first as an independent producer of network non-fiction specials and children’s series, followed by his executive and producing work at HBO Documentary Films, where he has been for the past 15 years.  John wrote in his candidate statement "I strongly believe that producers often develop projects in a vacuum and I aim to use my time on the PGA East Executive Committee to engage New York based television networks in a series of PGA workshops which aim to demystify the development process.  In these competitive times, producers should be spared guesswork, blind speculation and unnecessary investment.”

The five Members At Large, Jeff Gomez, John Hoffman, Nelle Nugent, Amy Robinson and Peter Saraf, represent a range of disciplines that reflect the broad spectrum of the PGA East membership.

Now is the time for us to increase our support and commitment to the Guild.  The next few years will be a tremendous growth period for us as the Guild has assumed a more prominent role in the industry.  We welcome your input and encourage your involvement in local and national Guild initiatives.
