MISSION

THE PRODUCERS GUILD MAKE YOUR MARK WEEKEND SHORTS COMPETITION was initially created in 2010 as an ancillary project of The Producers Guild Debra Hill Fellowship to help raise awareness of the producing legacy of beloved PGA Producer Debra Hill, who passed away in 2005.

 Debra Hill

After several years, THE PRODUCERS GUILD MAKE YOUR MARK WEEKEND SHORTS COMPETITION evolved into its own stand-alone entity while still honoring the legacy of Debra Hill.

The mission of THE PRODUCERS GUILD MAKE YOUR MARK WEEKEND SHORTS COMPETITION (“PGA-MYMWSC”) is to support talented emerging producers through the Producers Guild Foundation and bring the inspirational spirit of Debra Hill’s life and work to new generations of storytellers.

To keep the story ideas fresh, each year entries for PGA-MYMWSC will reflect themes and elements found in the work of a different iconic Producer.  The following producers have been the honorees for the PGA-MYMWSC:

2011 DEBRA HILL
2012 DEBRA HILL
2013 LAURA ZISKIN
2014 SAUL ZAENTZ
2017 MIKE NICHOLS
2018 SYDNEY POLLACK

Revenues raised by the contest will be used to create internships for emerging filmmakers in production companies where they can make connections and get practical everyday experience in the Film and TV industry.

By extending Debra’s commitment to teaching and mentoring succeeding generations of producers in this manner, the PGA- Make Your Mark Weekend Shorts Competition strives to fulfill and extend Debra’s legacy and provide creative opportunities for emerging filmmakers.
