1.

WE'RE LOOKING FOR THE BEST ON-SET PHOTO OF ALL TIME

Produced By magazine’s back-page photo contest is livelier than ever!  Over the past couple of years, we’ve featured explosive pyrotechnics, exacting historical re-creations, daring stunts, exotic locations and even good old on-set goofing around.  And we want to put YOUR best photos from the sets you’ve worked on in the magazine.  It doesn’t matter if you work in film, TV or digital media, or whether you were the lead producer or the assistant production coordinator—a great photo is a great photo, and we’re in the business of printing great photos.

If you think you have The Best On-Set Photo of All Time, send it on in to BOSPOAT@producersguild.org

Winning photos  should…
Prominently feature or be taken by PGA members.
Not be images of you (or anyone else) just hanging around with famous people.

Winning photos must…
Be available at a resolution of 300dpi.
Be owned either by you, or by a third party who has agreed in writing to freely license the photo for publication in Produced By.

We can’t wait to see those fantastic pics.  Send them to BOSPOAT@producersguild.org today!

2.

PGA DODGER DAY 2018

You and your guests (maximum 10 tickets, please) are encouraged to join us on Saturday, September 1st, at 6:10pm for our annual PGA Dodger Day at Dodger Stadium as your Los Angeles Dodgers take on the Arizona Diamondbacks.

We will be sitting on the Field Level near the visiting bullpen and foul pole in right field, in Sections 48, 50 and 52, in Rows P thru T.  The Producers Guild has acquired 100 tickets for $50 each.  (These are normally priced at $60.)  Please note that Labor Day fall on Monday, September 3rd, so this is Labor Day Weekend!

The Dodgers have won the National League West for the last five years (2013-2017), and last year were the National League Champions, beating the Diamondbacks in the Division Series (3-0), and the Cubs in the Championship Series (4-1), before losing to the Astros in Game 7 of the World Series (3-4).

This year the Diamondbacks are off to a fast start and are currently sitting on top of the National League West standings.  So, to return to the Playoffs and the World Series means the Dodgers will have to go through Phoenix.

Purchase Tickets Here: http://www.producersguild.org/event/dodgerday2018

Parking is $25 at the gate, and $15 if you pay in advance.  Go to Dodgers.com, then "tickets", then "parking", to purchase parking in advance.   You can also park for $5 in Lots 13 & 14.  These are located on Stadium Way between Vin Scully Ave. (off Sunset Blvd.) and the 101 Freeway.  It is an extra 10 min. uphill walk to the Stadium.  Parking gates open at 3:40pm and the Stadium gates open at 4:10pm.  There is also a dedicated Uber/ Lyft drop off/pick up area in Lot 12.  Get here early to avoid parking hassles and to watch batting practice.

Bring a glove, as lots of balls land in the right field pavilion during batting practice.  Hope to see you at Dodger Stadium for baseball and PGA camaraderie.

COMMITTEE SPOTLIGHT :  EMPLOYMENT COMMITTEE

THE EMPLOYMENT COMMITTEE brings PGA members together with companies in the industry looking to hire everyone on the producing team ranging from Coordinators to Executive Producers in TV, Film and New Media.  The committee does this through a series of events scheduled throughout the year but are asking for more help from our members.  Please sign up to be on the Employment Committee through the PGA website: www.ProducersGuild.org/EmployWest

“Working directly with potential employers at networking and Job Forum events gives volunteers the unique opportunity to develop a relationship with that employer outside of a traditional job interview.  It’s a very organic way to show your passion for producing and the community.”
– Eve Watterson, outgoing West Coast Committee Co-Chair.

The flagship event of the committee is the bi-annual Job Forum: One for scripted and one for non-scripted.  At this event, exclusive to PGA members, approximately 20 employers rotate through 100 job seekers, giving every member a chance to present their resume and pitch themselves.  Employers then leave with an organized book of resumes, as well as a digital copy, which is an invaluable go-to tool for their upcoming projects.

“The scripted and non-scripted job forums are very successful at pairing candidates with hiring employers.  Many jobs have been landed because of these events, not least of all because of the deep networking the attendees do with each other.”
-- Kia Kiso, outgoing West Coast Committee Co-Chair.

The Employment Committee also created the new “Build Your Rolodex” networking events which precede selected screenings.  Thirty minutes prior to a screening, members can casually network in a relaxed and intimate setting.  Just think, showing up to a screening a few minutes earlier can allow you to leave having met, learned something about, and traded business cards with a possible future colleague or boss.

“Another benefit is the PGA Members Only Employment Facebook Group to post and share jobs with each other and promote the hiring PGA members.”
– Kia Kiso, outgoing West Coast Committee Co-Chair.

Improving the JOB BOARD is a priority of the Employment Committee in 2018.  The Job Board was created when the PGA had only 1,000 members.  After two years of listening to member and employer feedback, the Committee is in the final stages of securing bids to deliver a PGA Job Board that will engage employers and serve our members well.

“Our goal is for the PGA to be the #1 source for posting and finding Producer-related jobs.  Employers and members need a user-friendly experience in networking, job posting, job hunting, and finding qualified applicants.”
– Chris Pack, incoming West Coast Committee Co-Chair.

The committee meets the first Tuesday of every month, at 7 pm, in the PGA Offices in Los Angeles or you can log in remotely.  They invite you to join their efforts to help keep PGA members working, networking and to build the network of employers for the Job’s Board.

They are seeking volunteers who are able to give one or two Saturday mornings a year to help out at the Job Forums or who can give thirty minutes to help facilitate a “Build your Rolodex” event before a screening.  Additionally, the committee needs volunteers who love working behind-the-scenes to help us improve and create new events.

“We have a wealth of volunteer opportunities on the Employment committee.  We want members of our committee to feel included and to be actively involved in what is going on.  So, we'd like to ask our committee members to volunteer for at least two events each year.”
-- Morenike Joela Evans, incoming West Coast Committee Co-Chair.

“Summer Italian Cheesecake with Smoked Maple Whiskey Tangerine Kumquat Compote or Berry Chocolate Summer Mint Salad may be on the menu at our West Coast Committee Volunteer BBQ.”
– Chris Pack, incoming West Coast Committee Co-Chair.

“Our event volunteers get one-on-one access with employers.  Another perk is, most of the time, you get to hear about the available jobs first!”
-- Kia Kiso, outgoing West Coast Committee Co-Chair.

There are many exciting opportunities on PGA committees that can bolster your career.  Don’t miss out!
